Instructions
Step One: Find a pair of jeans to work with and get in the mind set that
less is more. I think when a lot of us start a DIY project we think the more
of something that we add or take away will help but later you will regret
it, so especially with this project, make sure you go easy on the jeans!

Step Two:
Note where jeans get the most distressed, that's usually knee's thigh area
and lower hemmed part. Now, knowing that, take the cheese grater and start
rubbing with the medium grade rough side. This should just raise fibers,
your not putting wholes at this time your just softening and raising fibers,
I think it works best to do this while wearing the jeans.

Step Three:
After you have softened areas up, take some sand paper and go over the
areas again working harder in some places, this can cause some areas to form
small rips. These rips look the most natural. After you have done that,
strategically cut some of your denim to create holes, make sure you do it
right above the knee and in thigh areas. Do this while you are wearing the
jeans, after making your cuts, take the jeans off and using the fine end of
the cheese grater work in circular motions to pull away the fibers and
create strings that are connected at each end, this again looks more
authentic.
Step Four:
Your almost done. Now that you are done distressing your jeans, lay them
on the floor. Take the white spray paint and lightly mist the top fronts of
your thigh, this makes it look warn and when on makes your legs look
thinner!!! Let that dry about 15 minutes, then with a LIGHT hand sprinkle
some bleach on your pants. Wait 2 minutes longer if you want it to have a
bigger contrast. Throw into the wash immediately. If you want to shrink your
jeans, I would suggest washing with one whole bottle of fabric softener on
the hottest water setting then drying it on the highest heat setting!
