DIY: Turn an Old Dress into a Tunic

Here is where you can get a bit more versatile with the clothing you already have in your closet I am sure you have a fitted dress somewhere in there. Take a look and I am sure you are going to find a dress worth salvaging.

Materials
Fitted Dress
Scissors
Hemming Materials or Tailor

Instructions
Step One: Find the dress that you want to work with, I have found that fabrics that will not easily fray work the best because I don't like to hem them and the point is salvaging them at the least cost so I don't want to dish out money for a tailor.

Step Two: Try the dress on and make with a marker exactly how long you want it to be. It was easy for me because my dress has stripes. I just cut along the stripes but if you do not have stripes to help lead your cut make sure that your fabrics match up so that your cuts are even in the back and front.

Step Three: After you have cut the dress it is in the style of a tunic, you can either hem the edges or keep them un-hemmed, that's up to you.
