An Imaginative Lesson on Layering
By Selma Yalazi

The colder the weather gets the more layers we heap on praying we don’t end up looking like the Pillsbury dough boy while staying warm. With certain knowledge in layering techniques, you can stop worrying about looking completely unfashionable. This winter, we combine your favorite pieces to create looks that are comfortable and flexible. The idea is to showcase your style according to the weather, so if it’s chilly you’re ok and if it warms up a bit, you just remove a layer and you still look good!

The most important rule in layering is wearing the lighter fabrics first. So that means items made of silk, satin, and cotton compromise your base also consider the cut, so first tank tops (camisoles), t-shirts, turtle necks, and long sleeve. Your next layer is for heavier items like wool, cashmere, corduroy, tweed, etc. You should be able to move freely and comfortably in your layers. Along with the fabric styles don’t forget to consider patterns and colors, be daring and spice up your ensembles with bright colors.
This seasons cool styles are argyle sweaters and cardigans worn over a camisole. White button down shirts under sweaters with the collars and cuffs exposed (don’t button the cuffs). Don’t forget those cute boleros and other fitted jackets. And of course ponchos and fur trimmed wraps will get two thumbs up from us! Hooded Pullover Sweater with Cable Stitch+
